Mrs. Bonnie Edna Heaton Young, of 2019 Ashley Brook Way, Helena, Alabama, died Saturday, October 8, 2011 in Alabama following an extended illness. Mrs. Young was born in Roan Mountain where she lived the majority of her life until moving to Elizabethton in 1992 where she remained until September, 2004. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Bert and Nell Crumley Heaton. Mrs. Young was a former employee of North American Rayon and American Bemberg Corporation and was retired from TRW Electronics in Boone, NC. She was a member of the Roan Mountain United Methodist Church and the Sycamore Chapter #163 of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Vint Thomas Young in 1991, and by two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Allen Bert and Elizabeth A. Young of Helena, Alabama, and one sister-in-law, Thelma C. Heaton of Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Bonnie Edna Heaton Young will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in the Roan Mountain United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Milhorn officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Jerry Barnett, soloist, and Mr. David Arney, organist. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. The graveside service will follow the funeral in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Sam Heaton, George Heaton, Ed Heaton, Gary Birchfield, Wayne Sellers, Dana Dean Young, Charles Gill, and Carroll “Bud” Boone. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Roan Mountain United Methodist Church, 307 Johnson Street, Roan Mountain, TN 37687.
