Mrs. Bertie Ann Long, age 94, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness. Born in Baileyton, TN she had resided in Elizabethton most of her life and was the daughter of the late John and Clemie Newman Linebaugh. She was a member of Roan Street Freewill Baptist Church. “Nanny” will always be remembered for her kind heart and willingness to help others in their time of need. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Long, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Gwinn and husband George, Elizabethton; four grandchildren, George Gwinn Jr. and wife Heather, Elizabethton; Jancey Bennett and husband Randall, Elizabethton; Jonathan Gwinn and wife Emily, Morristown, TN and Andrea Mosley and husband Josh, Jonesborough, TN; eight great-grandchildren, Bailey, Clay and Abby Gwinn, Cagney and Piper Kate Bennett, Nathan Gwinn, Casey and Broc Mosley and one sister, Mary Jessie Jenkins, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service for Mrs. Bertie Ann Long will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2013 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Ray Amos officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. and Friday, March 8, 2013 from 1:30 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service. Friends may also call at the residence of a granddaughter, Jancey Bennett, 219 West F Street, Elizabethton, TN at other times. Interment will follow the funeral service in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be George Gwinn, Jonathan Gwinn, Randall Bennett, Josh Mosley, Lynn Kyker, Bailey Gwinn and Clay Gwinn. The family would like to express a special thanks to caregiver Sara Bennett and the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for their loving care of Nanny.
