Martha Bunton Query, 88, of Unicoi, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Unicoi County Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Buntontown in 1927 to Frank and Pearl Burton Bunton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Query of Maroa, IL and by her siblings, Scott Bunton, Asa Bunton, Lois Phyllis Bunton and Dwight Bunton.Mrs. Query taught school beginning in Puerto Rico in 1949 and continued to teach until 2007, substituting after retiring as a full-time teacher in 1984. She was active in church work, Daughters of the American Revolution and the National League of American Penwomen, as long as she was able. She a world traveler who enjoyed square dancing at the Johnson City Square Dancer’s. She was of the Baptist Faith.She is survived by her sister, Elma Ruth Stanton, Butler; a brother, Raymond Bunton, Tallahassee, FL; two step-sons; several step-grandchildren; three nieces, Lois B. Shults-Davis, Unicoi; Cathy Alesa Bunton, Elizabethton; Debbie Bunton Mims, Woodbine, GA; three nephews, Scotty Jack Bunton, Elizabethton; Dean Bunton, Tallahassee, FL and Greg Bunton, Tallahassee, FL as well as several cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Query will be conducted on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with her family officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:30 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the service. A graveside service and interment service will be conducted on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 3:30 PM in Sugar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Johnson County. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Grant Shults, Joe Shults, Scott Shults, Mike Davis, Larry Nave and Scott Bunton. Honorary pallbearers will be her students and classmates. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet the family at the funeral home at 2:30 PM on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Milligan College, P.
