Our family met Leota and Evelyn Brummitt in 1985 when we were baptized into the Johnson City Seventh-day Adventist Church. We fell in love with these two ladies and started sitting beside them with our two little boys (Travis and Tracy) now grown men. We often talked about our gardens and cats as that seemed to be something we all enjoyed. We went to their home several times and they showed us their huge garden and their 30 cats! We had a dairy farm at the time and we also had a big garden but not as much variety as they had. Leota worked at a factory outside the home and Evelyn did a lot of cooking, canning and housework. Evelyn sent us cards from the two of them for every single holiday, including Halloween and St Patrick's day. They were so sweet to the boys. After Evelyn passed away the cards slacked off for a while but we kept sending Leota mail and then she picked up the idea of sending cards too. We enjoyed exchanging mail and telephone calls for many years. Most recently we were getting our grandchildren involved. They sent their colored pictures and paintings to Leota and she would write them letters on notebook paper and cute little note cards. It was fun for both parties to get their mail! We appreciated the precious moments with Leota and Evelyn and they will be footprints on our hearts forever! Prayers to each of you as you feel the loss of her smiles. Love, David and Sandra Holt
