Kenneth Ray Byers

Mr. Kenneth Ray Byers, age 64, of Elizabethton, TN went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Sidney G. and Lassie Pearl Sheets Byers. Ray retired from North American Rayon Corporation. He had many friends that were always touched by his caring and generosity. He touched people’s lives wherever he went. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray Byers; two brothers: John Byers and Terry Byers and a sister: Betty Byers. He is survived by Charlotte Byers, Elizabethton; a daughter: Lisa Lyons and John Carter, Elizabethton; three grandchildren: Christopher Jay Waters and wife Kristen, Michael Thomas Lyons and wife Tina and Justin Lewis; two great-grandchildren: Caleb James Waters and Jason Michael Lyons; sisters: Mandy Freeman, Hazel Buckles, Ruth Roark, Nola Timbs and brothers: Jerry Byers and Carl Byers. Several close friends also survive. Please join the family for a service to honor the life of Mr. Kenneth Ray Byers at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 22, 2015 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Frank Osborne officiating. Music will be under the direction of Angie Odom. Interment will follow the funeral service in Lyons Cemetery (Holston Mountain). Active pallbearers will be Michael Lyons, Jay Waters, Scott Adkins, William Davis, Cody Honeycutt and Dereck Byers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. on Sunday prior to the funeral service or at the residence of his daughter, 1527 Burgie Street, Elizabethton after the graveside service and at other times.Read Obituary
