Mr. Jeff Pearson, 57, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015 at his home following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Raymond Rivers and Carrie Ann Peoples Pearson and was born in in Carter County. Mr. Pearson was retired from Day and Zimmerman where he worked as an electrical engineer. He was an avid UT Vols fan and also enjoyed fishing, raising his cattle and woodworking. He was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elizabethton.He is survived by his wife, Janice Pearson, of the home; a daughter, Kayla Pearson, also of the home and a sister, Jennifer Pearson, Nashville, TN. A memorial service for Mr. Pearson will be conducted on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 6:00 PM in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Tim Chambers officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Smith, James Smith, Rick Pritchard, Bill Anderson, Doug Bailey and Steve Pearson.Read Obituary

I just found out recently that Jeff had passed away, and I was surprised and deeply saddened. I worked with Jeff in 1994 when he was promoted to Foreman at Flour. And then worked under him when he was General Foreman on the TPI Project inside the Tennessee Eastman. I had lost contact with Jeff after we parted ways (as often happens in the contractor industry). But I was happy to reconnect with him again in 2012 when we found each other on FaceBook. I had noticed that Jeff had not logged on into FaceBook in long long time, but it never once occurred to me that he might have passed away as being the reason for it. We worked together for several years and had so many good times working for Fluor Daniel. I was crushed when I got the news that he had died over a year ago from another friend who also worked with us at Fluor Daniel. He will be greatly missed.

I really hated to hear of Jeff's passing. Jeff and I worked on the Air Products job site in Kingsport and were reunited at Yeargin Construction Company where Jeff was the first electrician that I worked with. We were on the same crew for several years and shared many great times together. When Yeargin lost their contract at Eastman, we went to different companies, but we still had our friendship and crossed paths frequently. After Jeff went to D & Z, we kind of lost touch with each other. I can say that he was a great electrician and taught me a lot, so much so that I eventually was promoted to electrician and foreman at Yeargin. I encouraged Jeff to reach higher, and I was really proud when he was promoted to Electrical General Foreman with Fluor. He was a great guy, an avid "basser", and I will miss him greatly. May GOD bless you (his family) during this difficult time. I really wish that I could be at the service, but I have other commitments that I must keep. You all are certainly in my thoughts and prayers.
