Frances Jean Curtis Allison Young, age 82, of Louisville, TN passed away Monday, April 2, 2018 in the Westmoreland Health and Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville, TN. A native of Carter County, TN she was the daughter of the late Andrew Russell Curtis Sr. and Jennie Kate “Bush” Simerly Curtis. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and received her B.A. and Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of TN. She was an art teacher and a librarian with Tullahoma City Schools for twenty years and later worked as Reference Librarian with the Calvin McClung Historical Collection of the Knox County Public Library. Mrs. Young helped to develop the Tullahoma Fine Arts Center and the D.A.R. Chapters in Tullahoma and Fayetteville and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tullahoma, TN and Fayetteville, TN. She was also a member of the A.E.D.C. Woman’s Club and the Tullahoma Junior Woman’s Club.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lindsay Allison Sr. and her second husband, Dr. Richard Wilson Young Jr.; a son, Robert Lindsay Allison Jr. and a brother, Lt. Col. Andrew Russell ”Billy” Curtis Jr. Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Katherine Lee Allison Yates and a son-in-law, Tim Yates, Knoxville, TN; a daughter-in-law, Joni Keene Allison; two granddaughters, Kristen Elizabeth Ragan Danis and husband Blake Danis, Virginia Beach, VA and Lindsay Marie Ragan, Michigan; great-grandsons, Aiden Danis and Liam Danis; a special cousin, Glen E. Simerly; a niece, Vicki Curtis and Dr. Young’s children and grandchildren.At her request, no services are scheduled at this time.Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the East TN Historical Society, 601 South Gay Street, Knoxville, TN 37902, eastTNhistory.org.
