Beatrice “Mamaw” Davis, age 90, of Elizabethton, TN went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 29, 2016 from her residence following an extended illness. A native of Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Ruby Slagle Mottern. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker but during her younger years she worked at the Kress Store. She was the oldest member of Slagle’s United Methodist Church. “Mamaw” loved to garden and she loved being with her family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Davis; a brother, Joe Mottern, a sister-in-law, Pauline Mottern and a special nephew, Donnie Davis. Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Shirley Boone and husband Bob, of the home; four grandchildren; Wendy Guinn and husband Ricky, Andrew Deloach, Renee Whitaker and husband Nathan and Steve Deloach, all of Elizabethton; great-grandchildren, Danielle, Kerstynn, Tyler, Zachary, Paige, Destiny, Madison, Emma, Morgan and Cadence; great-great-grandchildren, Lane and Jayden; a sister, Sue Lyon and husband Beryl and a brother, Bill Mottern and wife Sylvia, all of Bluff City, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.A service to honor the life of Beatrice “Mamaw” Davis will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, May 1, 2016 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Estel Williams and Rev. Mike Berry officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 – 2:30 P.M. on Sunday prior to the service or at the residence at any time. Graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be nephews, John Hartley, Bill Hartley, Jim Hartley, Dan Spears, Danny Davis, David Lindamood, Marvin Lyons, Kevin Mottern, Eric Mottern, Darrell Freeman and Randy Grindstaff. Honorary pallbearers will be her Church family.Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Youth Fund, Slagle’s United Methodist Church, 285 Old Watauga Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
